By using Postcards by Heather you accept the terms below. If you do not, please do not use the site.

The photographs and the writing are hers

Every photograph, illustration and journal entry here was made by Heather and is protected by copyright. You are welcome to read, link to, and share links to anything on the site.

You may not, without written permission:

• Republish a photograph or an illustration anywhere, including on social media.
• Copy an article in whole or in substantial part onto another site.
• Use anything here in advertising, a product, or any commercial material.
• Use anything here to train a machine learning model.

Brands wanting to license images or video should start at work with me. Licences are written per campaign, with the scope and the term set out in the agreement.

Sponsored content is labelled

Some entries follow a stay, a meal or a product that was paid for or provided free. Where that is the case it is stated plainly in the entry itself, and on Instagram with the paid partnership label, in line with the Federal Trade Commission's endorsement guides.

Being hosted never buys a good review. Opinions here are Heather's own, and she will not recommend a place she would not send a friend to.

Travel advice is a snapshot, not a guarantee

Opening hours, prices, routes and whether a place still exists all change, often without notice. Everything here describes how something was when it was written. Check current details with the venue before you rely on them, and take responsibility for your own safety and your own travel decisions.

Links to other sites

Where another website is linked it is because it seemed useful. Those sites are not controlled here, and neither their content nor their privacy practices are the responsibility of this site.

No warranty, and limits on liability

This site is offered as it is. No promise is made that it will be available without interruption, or that everything on it is complete and current. To the fullest extent the law allows, Heather is not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site or from acting on anything published here.

Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law does not permit it to be limited.

Privacy

How information is handled is set out on the privacy page and the cookies page, which form part of these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Michigan, United States, without regard to conflict of law rules. If you are a consumer elsewhere, you keep any rights your local law gives you that cannot be set aside by agreement.

Changes

These terms may be updated. The date at the top shows when they last were. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the revised terms.
